Marié Botha

Program manager

Marié Botha completed her Master’s degree in business commerce at Stellenbosch University. She started her career at the CSIR as a researcher in the field of operations research, logistics and quantitative methods. She furthered her career in the domains of supply chain management, lean manufacturing and the aerospace industry.

Marié got involved in managing the supplier development programme for the Aerospace Industry Support Initiative (AISI), and has subsequently programme managed the entire initiative. The main focus of the initiative is enabling and coordinating industry to be integrated into global supply chains. As programme manager, she assists with the industrialisation of relevant projects and facilitating the access of South African industry to local expertise and national facilities.

Marié is also the Key Account Manager for CSIR Aerospace. This requires the coordination of experts within the CSIR to work towards national imperatives, as well as facilitating the interaction with the local entities such as the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) and international collaborators on a continuous and regular basis, and managing national programmes at the CSIR, ensuring an all-encompassing value proposition to the CSIR’s stakeholders.

Marié has authored numerous scientific papers and developed strategies for the aerospace industry and non-aerospace industry. She is a member of the International Astronautical Federation’s Workforce Development for Young Professionals Committee, as well as the Royal Aeronautical Society. She serves on the council for the South African Aeronautical Society.
