Dr. Abd. Rahim Abu Talib
Head of Aerospace
Dr. Abd. Rahim is the Head of Aerospace under the Industry Intelligence Division for Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) where he is responsible for the aerospace industry development.
He started his career at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1998 as a tutor at the Department of Aerospace Engineering and was appointed as a junior lecturer at UPM. In 2007, he was appointed as the Head of Department of Aerospace Engineering and in 2008, then promoted to senior lecturer. In 2009, he was appointed as the Deputy Dean (Academic, Student Affair’s and Industry Relation) at the Faculty of Engineering where in 2010, he was promoted as an associate professor in aerospace engineering.
Since November 2011 to date, Dr. Abd. Rahim has been given the opportunity to be seconded for four years from UPM to the private sector in MiGHT-Meteor Advanced Manufacturing (MMAM) Sdn. Bhd as a Senior General Manager. In MMAM, he was responsible to lead a newly formed centre of excellence, Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC) as the Chief Operating Officer from 2011 to 2012. From 2012 onwards, he is responsible to look after the technical aspect of project management and programme development in MMAM.
Dr. Abd. Rahim holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, an honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering from University of Salford, a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a founding Member of the Malaysian Society of Engineering and Society (MySET).
